The Transitional Period
Changing Fast
Week three is exciting here at Pleasant Meadows! Puppies eyes open, they start to hear, they start toddling around the box, and they learn to lap food. We follow both Puppy Culture and Avidog protocols, which takes quite a bit of time but is worth it for super development.
Protecting Eyes
Newly opened puppy eyes should be protected from bright light.
Lapping Liquids
In this week, puppies will begin to lap liquids. We provide them with goat milk in a shallow pan to allow them to develop this ability.
Enriching the Environment
Puppies benefit from having an enriching environment. We provide age appropriate items. For this week, they will benefit greatly from tactile items which they can explore by scent, sound, and texture. An enriching environment optimizes brain development and is continued until the puppies go to their new homes.

During this time, we introduce specific toys for them to walk over and crawl under. The careful introduction of toys helps the puppies develop both physically and cognitively.
